Survey Information Leaflet/Invitation to Participate
Dear colleague,
In 2022, a consortium of partners from Irish higher education institutions, national and international research-performing organisations, and publishing organisations (now collectively known as Publish OA) were awarded €208,999 through the 2022 NORF Open Research Fund to lead Action Three: Open Access Transition Programme.
As a first step in this project, Publish OA created a centralised Directory of Irish Publishers, published on 16 June 2023, in which you were identified as a publisher currently operational on the island of Ireland for the publishing house [X].
---
Changes to the Directory: Should you wish to make changes to your Directory listing, reasonable edits will be facilitated by contacting publishoa@ria.ie. Moreover, published with the Directory is its takedown policy that will allow you to request that your listing be removed from the site without question at any point.
---
Following the launch of the Directory, we would now like to invite you to participate in a short survey designed to cross-check the information contained in the Directory and to facilitate a landscape and gap analysis of publishing in Ireland, particularly in relation to open access.
The information you provide by completing this survey will also inform a feasibility report on the establishment of a national Diamond OA publishing platform, which would be made available to all publishers in Ireland.
Access the survey here. (It contains 11 questions and will be open until 4 July 2023.)
---
Withdrawing from the survey, data collection and storage, etc.: You may withdraw from completing the survey at any time by simply closing the internet window that the survey is on. As the survey is confidential, participants will have two weeks after closure of the survey to request that their data be removed. After this point, the information shared will be added to data from other participants and it will no longer be possible to withdraw the data.
Data will be stored securely in accordance with national regulations and the aggregated summary of results may later be used in communications internal to NORF and its partners and published for research/educational purposes. Data will be stored securely in password-protected files at the Royal Irish Academy and no later than three years after final data collection, anonymised data will be deposited in an appropriate Research Data Repository service.
---
After completing the survey, if you have any questions, please contact Lucy Hogan, Project Manager (l.hogan@ria.ie). Also, if you have any further questions about the survey itself or the overall study, you may contact Ruth Hegarty, Project Lead (r.hegarty@ria.ie).
This study has received ethical approval from Munster Technological University (Research Ethics Approval No: MTU-HREC-MR-23-017-A, 12 May 2023).
Kind regards,
Publish OA Team
